Friday, July 10—Rodney Dangerfield: The King of Self-Deprecating Comedy. Rodney Dangerfield was one of America’s most beloved stand-up comedians, famous for his self-deprecating humor and signature catchphrase, “I don’t get no respect!” Born Jacob Rodney Cohen in 1921, he spent years struggling in show business before achieving fame in his 40s and 50s. His rapid-fire jokes about everyday frustrations, marriage, work, and aging resonated with audiences and made him a television and comedy club favorite. Beyond stand-up, Dangerfield starred in popular films such as Caddyshack, Easy Money, and Back to School. His unique comedic style, marked by impeccable timing and relentless one-liners, helped shape modern stand-up comedy and left a lasting legacy in American entertainment.
