Valerie Kretchmer
We are thrilled to spotlight Valerie Kretchmer as a valued member of the CJE SeniorLife Board of Directors.
Valerie brings an extraordinary depth of experience as an urban planner and real estate consultant, with a career spanning more than four decades. Her expertise in economics, feasibility analysis, affordable housing, and senior housing has helped shape communities across Chicagoland and the Midwest.
Her connection to CJE runs deep. Valerie has played a key role in supporting past senior housing initiatives, and her daughter previously worked as a Lewis Intern at our Adult Day Services program. Inspired by these meaningful ties and encouraged by friends, Valerie joined our board to help advance CJE’s mission of supporting older adults with dignity and respect.
Last year, Valerie was honored with the Marshall and Doris Holleb Community Impact Award by the Chicago chapter of Lambda Alpha International, an honorary international organization of professionals in land economics. This prestigious recognition highlights her significant contributions to community development. We are proud to have Valerie’s vision, leadership, and dedication as part of our team.
When asked what excites her most about serving on the board, Valerie shared:
“I’ve learned so much about the breadth of CJE’s work, from Holocaust Community Services to the dedicated team of social workers and care coordinators. I’m especially passionate about bringing my years of experience in urban planning to support senior housing initiatives, both existing and new.”
Her guiding philosophy:
“There’s nothing beneath you. You can learn from any job or any experience. Those of us who are fortunate need to support those who aren’t. This is a lesson I shared with my children, and one I learned from my own parents, who were always involved in education and community aid.”
Please join us in celebrating Valerie’s commitment to creating vibrant, inclusive communities for older adults.
