Spiritual & Religious Life

CJE SeniorLife Welcomes All Faiths into its Community of Care and Support

Healthy Spiritual Life

Mind, Body, and Spirit

The Jewish values of respect, advocacy, compassion, intention, innovation, and accountability are at the heart of CJE’s championing of seniors and their families, no matter their spiritual preferences. They are what our mission is based on and guide our every step as we help enhance the lives of older adults.

We follow a holistic model in serving seniors and their families, providing for the needs of the entire person—mind, body, and spirit. We recognize that a healthy spiritual life is the foundation for positive aging and improves the well-being of older adults. We also acknowledge and respect the broad spectrum of religious needs and preferences of clients, residents, and their families.

Spiritual care is a tenet of Weinberg Community for Senior Living and a wide range of opportunities are offered to residents to honor their faith: Shabbat and Jewish holiday celebrations, Jewish cultural programs and entertainment, Judaic classes, lectures, and discussions, and services and ritual needs for individuals of other faiths. Rabbinically-approved kosher dining and catering is also available. A full-time rabbi/chaplain presides over each service or event.

Our rabbi/chaplain is clinically trained and certified in pastoral care. They attend to the spiritual and religious needs of ALL CJE’s clients and residents, regardless of faith or cultural background. Individuals and families experiencing the challenges of aging can call on the rabbi/chaplain for emotional support. They also are available for individuals needing guidance during spiritual reflection.

Our rabbi/chaplain also assists in exploring decisions involving ethical issues, offers grief and bereavement support, facilitates family discussions, and advocates for the cultural and religious needs of clients and residents.
