Annual Board Meeting

Every year, CJE’s Board of Directors gathers for an annual meeting to reaffirm their commitment to the older adults we serve. It is also an opportunity to confirm new board members, to say thank you to members whose term has concluded, and deepen important connections with each other.

In Memoriam

In 2023, CJE lost a giant. Founding Board Member Leonard Worsek, z”l passed shortly before year-end, at the age of 93.

All of CJE has experienced the power of Leonard’s love and commitment to this organization. Leonard was one of CJE’s first board members, joining the board over 50 years ago, and serving as board chair during the 1980s.

Leonard was integral to the creation of the Council for Jewish Elderly, now known as CJE SeniorLife. He was there when the agency opened its doors in 1972. He was there when the first residents moved into the Lieberman Center. He was there when we welcomed new residents to Gidwitz Place and the Friend Center. Leonard came to ADS, participated in HCS events and delivered meals. He wrote a “love letter,” a book entitled The History of CJE SeniorLife, which is available for purchase on Amazon.

Leonard had a quick wit and was not shy about sharing his ideas. With the support of his wife, Barbara, and their beautiful family, he worked tirelessly for more than 60 years to make CJE the incredible organization it is today. We are honored to uphold his legacy.
