NEW Coping with the Challenges of Aging

8-week cognitive behavioral therapy group,

Coping with the Challenges of Aging, designed to help members change patterns of thinking in order to feel better.

Facilitator: Lisa A. Brinkerhoff, L.C.S.W.

Mees: Wednesdays

Time: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., June 15 to August 3, 2016,

Location: CJE Seniorlife, 3003 West Touhy Avenue, Chicago.

Participation requires advance screening and evaluation to be billable to Medicare and other insurance.  Please see the attached flier and call 773.508.1690 with any questions or to schedule a screening appointment.

CJE invites family members, spouses and caregivers of an older adult to attend this support group. Join us to discuss coping strategies and gain emotional support from
other caregivers. ADS clients may remain at the Center while you attend.

Meets: Second Tuesday of the Month

A Support Group for Family Caregivers of Holocaust Survivors

This ongoing group addresses concerns related to caring for a parent experiencing issues of aging, dementia and decline and with a history of Holocaust-related trauma. Participants share and identify special challenges, emotions, caregiving tools and resources.

Meets: This support group meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Time: 4 - 5:15 p.m.

This support group for older adults with a family member with a disability offers opportunities to connect, share experiences and learn about benefits and community resources.

Support group for individuals who are involved in the care of someone with Parkinson’s.

This group helps caregivers learn about Parkinson’s Disease and caregiving. Participants learn about Parkinson’s and caregiving, meet others who face similar challenges, and discover ways to relieve caregiver stress and burn-out.

  • Learn about Parkinson's and caregiving
  • Have an opportunity to discuss experiences and feelings, to share solutions to common problems and learn about different resources such as exercise classes, art therapy classes, etc.
  • Meet others who face similar challenges and give and receive support.
  • Discover ways to relieve caregiver stress and burn-out.

Meets: This support group meets third Wednesday of every month

Time: 1 - 2 p.m.

Location: Weinberg Community for Senior Living, Gidwitz Place, 1551 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield

Fee(s): Group is free; donations are welcome.

Open to the public.

This support group is open to families and participants of CJE SeniorLife's Adult Day Services and Culture Bus programs. 

Meets:  This support group meets the second Tuesday of each month

Time: 3:15 - 4:30 p.m.

Location: Adult Day Services, 1015 Howard Street, Evanston

It is NOT open to the public.
