CJE’s Kosher To Go Service Receives CRC Approval, Expands Delivery Area

CHICAGO, IL  Nov. 18,  2009 - On any given weekday in the Chicago area, CJE SeniorLife’s fleet of 19 Shalom buses can be spotted around town. But you may have noticed recently some new vehicles in your neighborhood – CJE’s Kosher To Go trucks. Bright white, with the vibrant red, orange and yellow logos on each side, these specialized vehicles are the centerpiece of CJE’s Kosher To Go service, which delivers nutritious meals directly to people’s homes. Complete with temperature-controlled heating and cooling compartments on each vehicle, all meals are guaranteed frozen upon delivery.

Another new component of Kosher To Go is its cRc (Chicago Rabbinical Council) approved menu. All meals are now prepared by the chefs at Lieberman Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Skokie, flash frozen for freshness, and upon delivery can be heated in a conventional or microwave oven for added convenience. Designed by CJE’s registered dietician, the menu offerings range from beef brisket with gravy to Lake Superior whitefish with lemon. Four delectable soups are also available, including the ever-popular Matzo Ball.

While many of the large grocery chains and internet kosher food providers often have hefty surcharges for delivery and offer rigid delivery hours, CJE works directly with the client to address their needs, explained Ted Starcevich, manager of the home-delivered meals program.

“Unlike other programs, there is flexibility since the customer decides when to order, and complimentary delivery is included for any order of seven items or more,” he said. “We have a quality product that people enjoy. Making sure that our entrees are low sodium, low fat and low cost is of utmost concern.”

Kosher To Go is now delivering into Hyde Park on the south side and into Highland Park, Wilmette, Glenview and Buffalo Grove as well as many of the other north and northwest suburbs and the north side of Chicago. Meals are also currently delivered to patients at Rush University Medical Center in downtown Chicago and Skokie Hospital of the NorthShore University HealthSystem. For information about geographical boundaries, menu options, or to place an order, call 773/508-1000. The menu is also available at www.cje.net.
