Adult Day Programs
CJE SeniorLife's Adult Day Programs provide older adults with a supervised, structured program in a group setting. Our program maximizes the potential of each participant, helping him or her maintain functional abilities and quality of life while giving their caregivers a much-needed respite.
Participants, 60 or older, come from all ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. The individuality, independence and dignity of each participant is acknowledged. Evanston: Open Monday through Friday
Participants are older adults who may be frail, isolated or lonely. Physical or cognitive impairments may limit their ability to function and enjoy life in the community. The more independent participants who require less one-to-one assistance are grouped in the "Traditional" program. The "Asher" program provides structured therapeutic activities and care in smaller groups for those with moderate to severe dementia and/or a greater need for more individual assistance with activities of daily living.
A team of program professionals plan and facilitate simultaneous activities which give participants the opportunity to choose activities that capture their interest. A full-time registered nurse promotes wellness, provides health education and administers medication as needed. A full-time social worker provides emotional support for the participants and family caregivers in addition to connecting Adult Day participants with resources in CJE and the larger community. Delicious, kosher food is provided including a light breakfast in the morning, a balanced, nutritious lunch and an afternoon snack.

Staff and volunteers accompany participants to various events and destinations in the greater Chicagoland area. The Culture Bus: Inside and Out program (Tuesdays) consists of a social and cultural outing every other week (including lunch) throughout the year with an "inside program" on alternate weeks that is focused on engagement in the creative, expressive arts. Transportation for Culture Bus: Inside and Out is provided by CJE from the starting point at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Feinberg Lobby) in Chicago. In conjunction with Culture Bus trips, participants and their caregivers may belong to an early-stage support group that is facilitated by a Northwestern University social worker.
Transportation by CJE for the North/Northwest Culture Bus begins/ends at either The Friend Center (on the Weinberg Campus in Deerfield, 1601 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield) or Lutheran Church of Atonement (909 E. Main, Barrington). Participants must arrange for their own transportation to/from one of these two starting/ending locations.
