LINKAGES
Are you the parent or family member of an adult with a disability and concerned about his/her future welfare?
LINKAGES Can help.
LINKAGES is a unique program that assists seniors who are the primary caregivers of adult children with disabilities address the issues, needs and concerns of the family. Professional staff explores resource options and offers expertise and advice on service coordination, advocacy, future planning and government benefits, including social security and public aid. CJE SeniorLife works collaboratively on this effort with affiliated agencies of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.
Services include:
- Information and referral for financial planning, legal planning and advocacy
- Referrals for case management, counseling, housing, employment, vocational training, respite services and a variety of other in-home services through the aging and disabilities networks
- Connections quarterly newsletter
- Annual Resource Fair
Educational programs and support group:
- Educational programs and consultations for professionals and families take place on a monthly basis. Topics include:
Estate planning issues for people with disabilities Community resources (vocational services, residential programs, respite care) Government benefits
- A family support group meets twice monthly and allows families to come together to discuss the similar situations they are facing
